Identify what the strap number measures
Manufacturers may publish shoulder-strap length, strap drop or crossbody circumference. These quantities have different endpoints. Converting every value to centimetres does not make them interchangeable.
The reviewed Bellroy Lite Sacoche listing gives a shoulder-strap range. The Pacsafe GO listing uses circumference and drop labels. Those records belong in separate measurement fields; a single longest-strap ranking would conceal the difference.
Use a fitting setup that describes the coat
Record the wearer height and relevant body measurement with consent, the coat type and the strap setting. A thin shell and a padded winter coat create different paths around the body. Identify whether the bag is worn on the front, side or back.
As an editorial fitting method, first place the loaded bag at the position you want, then check whether the adjustment range reaches that position with spare travel. Do not calculate a guaranteed fit from height alone.
Check access as well as reach
A strap that reaches around a coat may still leave the bag too high for easy retrieval, too low when sitting, or awkward under a scarf. Check the buckle, zipper and pocket access in the actual wearing arrangement.
- Try the everyday loaded bag rather than an empty display unit.
- Reach for the phone and passport with the coat closed.
- Sit down and bend without forcing the strap or moving the bag into an unsafe path.
- Repeat with the gloves you normally use and record any extra steps.
Keep fit claims tied to the tested wearer
A future wear record should include the setting and photographs that show the bag position, with identifying details removed where appropriate. One wearer or one coat cannot establish universal winter fit.
Our current winter-coat filter remains unknown where there is no such record. Published adjustment ranges are useful specifications, but they are not an on-body finding.
