The main compartment intentionally provides minimal internal organization, consisting primarily of an open cavity and one zippered pocket. The reviewer measured the main compartment below its labeled capacity, with remaining storage distributed across the front pocket and laptop compartment. The separate rear laptop compartment fit a 13-inch MacBook Pro comfortably, with padding on both sides and a false bottom.
The thick padded shoulder strap is highly adjustable and removable, allowing the bag to serve as a camera cube or tech pouch. Without a camera cube, usable space disappears quickly, as the reviewer found when packing a hoodie, journal, headphones, and glasses.
Reported strengths
- The Black Ember Grip Sling 12 is a large structured sling designed around camera access and protection, with a boxy shape.
- The main compartment opens quickly, giving camera-focused users fast access to gear without requiring them to stop during use.
- The separate rear laptop compartment fit a 13-inch MacBook Pro comfortably, with padding on both sides and a false bottom.
Reported trade-offs
- Its flat base lets the sling stand independently during packing or quick access, although compression straps can reduce that stability.
- The main compartment intentionally provides minimal internal organization, consisting primarily of an open cavity and one zippered pocket.
- Without a camera cube, usable space disappears quickly, as the reviewer found when packing a hoodie, journal, headphones, and glasses.
