The removable sternum strap provides an added carrying option, although the reviewer considers it not entirely necessary here. Using the side buckles makes the rolltop more convenient and compact, but the reviewer notes that this configuration is not waterproof. The front zipped pocket is extremely wide with little depth, so the reviewer finds it tricky to use for anything beyond flat items.
The reviewer approves omitting load-lifters on this pack because it reduces weight and leaves fewer dangling straps overall. The reviewer prefers the drawstring compression-pouch closure, although the rolltop system works adequately for them in practice.
