Compared with similarly durable fabrics, the VX-07 Diamond Ripstop is lightweight, but the Spar is heavy for its size and sounds swishy. The top flap can roll closed, while the main compartment's fleece-lined back pocket uses a small Velcro closure inside. The reviewer praised the metal key leash inside the quick-grab pocket, saying it felt thoughtfully made rather than like an afterthought.

The side zipper lets left-shoulder wearers swing the Spar forward and quickly retrieve items from the main compartment. The Fidlock buckle keeps the main compartment securely closed and can be released with one hand, while the reviewer also enjoyed its magnetic action.

Reported strengths

  • The Mission Workshop Spar offers a comfortable harness system, ample storage, and simple organization that the reviewer found useful for everyday carry.
  • The Spar has a microfleece-lined front quick-grab pocket and a main compartment accessed through either its side zipper or top flap.
  • The top flap can roll closed, while the main compartment's fleece-lined back pocket uses a small Velcro closure inside.

Reported trade-offs

  • The strap adjusts exceptionally smoothly and quickly, but its handle can rest on the shoulder and get into the wearer's face.
  • Compared with similarly durable fabrics, the VX-07 Diamond Ripstop is lightweight, but the Spar is heavy for its size and sounds swishy.
  • The fleece-lined back pocket fits tablets up to 10.5 inches, but its small Velcro target requires precise closure and offers limited protection.
