The reviewer finds the rightmost pen pocket fussy because its opening sits near a corner, although inserting a pen remains possible. The main compartment includes two wide liner pockets, three pen pockets, and a zippered compartment with two further liner pockets. The reviewer reports that the wide zippered compartment can hold travel documents and smaller accessories, while liner pockets retain a travel mouse and charger.
The reviewer fit an 18-ounce Hydro Flask inside the main compartment alongside accessories already stored in its liner pockets. The reviewer prefers wearing the Pioneer 12 as a crossbody sling because it feels more comfortable than carrying the large bag around the waist.
Reported strengths

Reported trade-offs
