The padded laptop sleeve lacks much structure, protrudes whether occupied or empty, and its elastic does little to secure the shape. Foam padding on the Metrosafe LS450’s back panel and shoulder straps made carrying more pleasant and helped the pack feel lighter. Deep elasticized side pockets accommodated larger bottles, including the reviewer’s 18-ounce YETI Rambler, without reported difficulty.

Hidden carabiner clips on the two front pockets connect to zipper pulls, making quick external access more difficult. The main compartment uses a Lockabout clip with a sliding lock, creating a two-step process for operating its zipper pulls.

Reported strengths

  • The reviewer found two outside pockets with stash and mesh zippered sections that provide plentiful space for organizing small gear.
  • The larger top pocket adds a pen silo, another stash pocket, and a key clip, giving small essentials dedicated organization.
  • Foam padding on the Metrosafe LS450’s back panel and shoulder straps made carrying more pleasant and helped the pack feel lighter.

Reported trade-offs

  • After two weeks of testing, some threads were sticking out, although the reviewer considered this minor and withheld durability criticism.
  • The padded laptop sleeve lacks much structure, protrudes whether occupied or empty, and its elastic does little to secure the shape.
  • The top pocket buckled unless the Metrosafe LS450 was fully packed, although this did not interfere with opening, closing, or appearance.
