During testing, the shoulder straps unexpectedly detached from the pack several times, although the problem did not occur often enough to become serious. The separate wet pocket keeps damp or dirty clothing and shoes away from the main compartment behind thick, highly water-resistant nylon. The upper quick-access pocket suits small essentials such as boarding passes, snacks, wipes, and chargers, while adding an internal mesh pocket.
A padded laptop compartment accommodates a 15-inch computer and includes an internal pocket with a sewn-in key clip. The shoulder straps can be detached and stored in the rear panel, allowing the pack to convert into a duffel.
Reported strengths
- The review describes numerous thoughtfully arranged pockets, including wet, top-access, front-access, and laptop-storage areas.
- A built-in compression strap helps secure and compact belongings after the main compartment has been packed.
- The separate wet pocket keeps damp or dirty clothing and shoes away from the main compartment behind thick, highly water-resistant nylon.
Reported trade-offs
- The absence of a hip belt made carrying the fully loaded pack unpleasant for any substantial length of time.
- During testing, the shoulder straps unexpectedly detached from the pack several times, although the problem did not occur often enough to become serious.
- Because the sternum straps are not secured to the shoulder straps, they could slide downward, tangle, and become difficult to reposition.
