External reports concern historical samples. Current SKU equivalence remains unverified; this is not a CarryFacts hands-on test.
Reviewed sample: Waterfield Designs · Sutter Tech Sling · Brown waxed canvas with Grizzly leather accent; large-size review unit · Full size, as reviewed: 6.5 liters. Historical publisher sample only; current production equivalence, stock and individual fit remain unverified. A complete CarryFacts specification record is not yet linked.
Richbourg reports a padded device area, microfiber lining, gold interior fabric, pen storage, a small utility pocket, key clip, and a separate full-length pocket. The reviewer especially valued the spacious front pocket for a medication pouch, cables, and dongles. Shoulder-side switching and one-handed strap adjustment support quick access while moving.
Positives include the organized interior, reversible carry, and reported performance in steady rain. The key compromise in the original review was the lack of a top grab handle, which made lifting the sling awkward. A thick case also tightened the fit of the larger iPad. The later update says Waterfield added a haul loop and could retrofit the reviewer’s bag, so buyers should check which handle configuration applies to the example under consideration.
Reported strengths
- Organized storage for a compact technology-and-personal-items load
- Left- or right-shoulder carry with one-handed strap adjustment
- Reported protection in steady downpours
Reported trade-offs
- The original reviewed configuration lacked a top haul loop or grab handle
- A thick case made the reviewed 12.9-inch iPad fit tight
- Check whether the specific example includes the later-added haul loop
