The reviewer found that dedicated pen loops would improve the elasticized pockets, which currently carry pens but lack that specialized organization. The reviewer describes the WaterField Racer-X as a compact, fairly minimalist case intended for an Apple PowerBook G4 and limited additional belongings. The Racer-X combines ballistic nylon outside, gold-yellow nylon inside, elasticized pocket fabric, and a soft gray nylon-covered neoprene laptop compartment.
The bright gold-yellow lining made small items easier for the reviewer to locate inside the accessory compartment during use. The two main compartments close with heavy-duty plastic zippers, each fitted with a nylon pull for handling during use.
Reported strengths
- Corrugated plastic supplies added structure and strength to the PowerBook section, complementing the softer materials around the computer.
- Packed for a flight, the reviewer found the Racer-X suitable for under-seat storage while leaving some foot space in economy.
- The bright gold-yellow lining made small items easier for the reviewer to locate inside the accessory compartment during use.
Reported trade-offs
- Chunky items placed before the accessory pockets can push outward and distort the bag because that compartment cover lacks hard plastic structure.
- The reviewer found that dedicated pen loops would improve the elasticized pockets, which currently carry pens but lack that specialized organization.
