Organization is a central strength in Carryology's account. The pack has laptop storage, several exterior pockets, concealed compartments, attachment points, and a semi-clamshell main opening. Ritscher found the slim side pocket useful for quick access while the pack stayed on, and reported comfortable straps when fully loaded.
The compromises depend on use. The bottle pocket expands into the main compartment, a design the source says may trouble some users, though Ritscher had no problem with it. Carryology also says the Max is a poor fit for small-daypack needs, and Ritscher would favor dedicated photography luggage in most cases. Check: hiking or adventure users carrying heavy loads may want a waist belt.
