For access and organization, Carryology describes removable straps that can turn the bag into a backpack. It also notes that the standard D-Bag has a detachable tool roll and mini duffel to separate gear. Among the supplied emergency items, the publisher particularly calls out a portable power unit for jump-starting a vehicle or charging devices.
The key compromise is carry weight: Carryology considers it too substantial for a bug-out role, instead favoring storage in a vehicle or drawer system. It also reports that a custom zipper pull came off when first opening the sample, despite its otherwise favorable view of the bag and zippers. It may be excessive for simple hikes or basic home use, and DIY-minded buyers may prefer to assemble or tailor a kit themselves.
