When the main compartment was packed out, the reviewer found several auxiliary pockets harder to use, although the luggage compartment remained unaffected. The reviewer used the dual-zippered front pocket for a battery pack, phone, pens, and documents, while retaining quick access when swinging the bag around. The isolated laptop compartment let the reviewer retrieve a Surface Pro with one hand without disturbing the rest of the pack.
The luggage compartment compresses in EDC mode and expands for travel, increasing the pack’s capacity by about 15L. The reviewer found the back panel comfortable and stable during walking, hiking, and running, while air channels delayed a sweaty back in Miami.
Reported strengths
- The reviewer reports that the Knack Pack has seven separate storage areas, including a felt tablet pocket and multiple zippered mesh dividers.
- The reviewer found the hidden zip-away bottle pocket accommodated varied bottle sizes and kept a Hydro Flask concealed.
- The reviewer used the dual-zippered front pocket for a battery pack, phone, pens, and documents, while retaining quick access when swinging the bag around.
Reported trade-offs
- The reviewer fit the Knack underneath an airplane seat on two occasions, though the expanded version may be too large.
- When the main compartment was packed out, the reviewer found several auxiliary pockets harder to use, although the luggage compartment remained unaffected.
