The side water-bottle pockets interfere with both main access points, forcing a choice between removing bottles or storing them inside shelves. A concealed luggage passthrough and security pocket provide travel-oriented utility, with the pocket easily fitting a passport behind it. The included shelves divide the main compartment into dedicated areas for clothing, bottles and supplies, and toys, which the reviewer finds useful.
A shallow side compartment gives quick access to essentials such as snacks and wipes, and accommodates the optional fanny pack. The bottom messy pocket separates dirty clothes from clean contents, and its lining uses waterproof material, according to the reviewer.
Reported strengths
- The Getaway Bag's internal partitioning gives the main compartment structure, allowing it to hold its shape even when empty.
- The reviewer reports that the Getaway Bag's dense-foam shoulder straps are comfortable when the bag is filled mostly with clothes and soft toys.
- A concealed luggage passthrough and security pocket provide travel-oriented utility, with the pocket easily fitting a passport behind it.
Reported trade-offs
- The rear laptop compartment is difficult to reach because it sits beneath the backpack straps, requiring at least one strap to be flipped.
- The side water-bottle pockets interfere with both main access points, forcing a choice between removing bottles or storing them inside shelves.
- The reviewer considers the front pocket's opening into the main cavity unnecessary because the side and top openings provide better access.
