The laptop area becomes tighter to access when the main compartment is filled, because both areas share space. The Matrix Backpack uses recycled polyester for its exterior and vegan leather for trim around the entire front compartment. A magnetic shoulder-strap pocket provides convenient phone access while commuting on foot or exploring a new place.
The larger front compartment opens horseshoe-style, with fabric gussets preventing it from falling completely open while preserving broad access. A front divider offers two pockets for bulkier gear and flattens when empty, preserving space for other contents.
Reported strengths
- The recycled polyester has a matte finish matching the vegan leather, while branding remains minimal with raised Troubadour lettering.
- The cushioned carry handle feels comfortable for longer periods and allows the backpack to slide over rolling carry-on luggage handles.
- A magnetic shoulder-strap pocket provides convenient phone access while commuting on foot or exploring a new place.
Reported trade-offs
- The laptop zipper uses a fabric storm cover, and reviewers found that cover slows access, especially around the corners.
- The laptop area becomes tighter to access when the main compartment is filled, because both areas share space.
- Smaller testers reported discomfort from the back panel and low strap placement, while the laptop compartment created a board-like effect.
