The side-access laptop compartment uses dense foam for protection, though its snug fit may challenge users with larger devices. The reviewer appreciates multiple top and side grab handles because they provide flexible options for carrying and maneuvering the backpack. The reviewer found the padded, contoured shoulder straps comfortable, with custom foam, spacer mesh, and an airflow channel supporting extended wear.
A top organization pocket uses a wide dual-zip opening and includes two slip pockets plus two pen or stylus sleeves. The reviewer reports that removing the padded camera inserts converts that compartment into a large space for clothing or other travel gear.
Reported strengths
- The reviewer reports that the DayChaser separates camera equipment from everyday or travel gear through dedicated camera and main compartments.
- The reviewer describes the 500D KODRA fabric, DWR coating, and layered waterproof backing as contributing to weather resistance around the bag.
- The reviewer appreciates multiple top and side grab handles because they provide flexible options for carrying and maneuvering the backpack.
Reported trade-offs
- The reviewer notes that the DayChaser is heavy when empty, so additional camera equipment can make the loaded backpack quite weighty.
- The side-access laptop compartment uses dense foam for protection, though its snug fit may challenge users with larger devices.
- The reviewer says fully opening the main compartment requires laying the backpack on its back, which can expose it to dirt.
