Front shock cord provides trekking-pole attachment, but the reviewer repeatedly found poles twisting and protruding sideways during testing. The reviewer found the padded, shaped hip belt comfortable under load, avoiding rubbing and pressure points while carrying weight. Two sternum straps spread the shoulder straps across the chest, and the reviewer found the loaded pack exceptionally stable while moving.
A deep front stretch pocket accommodates an extra layer, while capacious side pockets hold bottles or a tent securely. The open chest pockets accommodate a soft bottle or map, although their placement competes with jacket pockets or a chest pack.
Reported strengths

- During spring use, the reviewer stayed practically sweat-free and expects the harness ventilation could help further in hot weather.
- The reviewer found the padded, shaped hip belt comfortable under load, avoiding rubbing and pressure points while carrying weight.
Reported trade-offs
- The materials resisted weather but were not waterproof, while the reviewer considered the Bridger heavier than even another Mystery Ranch pack.
- Front shock cord provides trekking-pole attachment, but the reviewer repeatedly found poles twisting and protruding sideways during testing.
- The reviewer found the sleeping-bag compartment opening too narrow for a three-season bag, making its added complexity seem unnecessary.
